Graphics and performance

Choose quality, resolution and image detail for your device.

Choose device settings

  • Open Graphics in the editor’s 3D view or the visitor toolbar. Choose Automatic, Low, Balanced or High.
  • Rendering resolution can be automatic or 50/75/100/150%. Text and menus keep normal browser resolution.
  • Set shadows and artwork image detail separately, or let them follow quality. Turn on FPS to compare settings while walking.
  • Reset to recommended settings if manual overrides make performance worse.

Preferences belong to the device

Graphics preferences are saved in this browser, not published with the exhibition. Automatic mode starts conservatively on weaker/touch devices and reduces load after sustained slow rendering. Detailed textures load for nearby works within a bounded budget. These choices also work in portable exports; another hosting origin has its own preferences.

If walking feels slow

Try Low, shadows off and 75% or 50% resolution. Check hardware acceleration and compare another browser with the same gallery/settings. Too many complex GLBs, lamps, large overlapping rugs or simultaneously embedded galleries can cost more than a simple room. A low FPS reading is different from the visitor’s walking speed. Test the actual target laptop/phone; no setting can guarantee the same frame rate on every device.
